Terms of Service
The rules for using You in Town — plain English first, then the full legal version.
✋ The short version (what actually matters)
- Be decent. You in Town is built on trust between strangers. Don't harass, spam, or deceive other users.
- Real people only. No fake accounts, bots, or impersonation.
- No commercial use. This isn't a platform for advertising, lead generation, or selling services.
- You own your content. I don't claim ownership of anything you post. But by posting it, you give me permission to display it on the platform.
- I can remove accounts. If you break the rules, I reserve the right to suspend or delete your account without notice.
- The platform is provided as-is. I do my best, but I can't guarantee it'll always be available or error-free.

1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using You in Town (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
These terms apply to all users, including travellers, local guides, and visitors browsing without an account.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their express authorisation.
3. Accounts
3.1 Registration
You agree to provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
3.2 One account per person
You may hold only one active account. Creating duplicate or replacement accounts to evade a suspension is not permitted.
3.3 Account security
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact me immediately at info@you-in-town.com.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Platform to:
- Harass, threaten, or deceive other users;
- Post false, misleading, or defamatory content;
- Impersonate any person or entity;
- Send unsolicited messages or spam;
- Collect or scrape data from the Platform by automated means;
- Use the Platform for commercial advertising or lead generation;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform or other users' accounts;
- Upload or share content that is illegal, offensive, or infringes third-party rights.
5. User content
You retain ownership of any content you post on the Platform (profile information, photos, trip details, messages).
By posting content, you grant the operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content within the Platform for the purpose of providing the service.
You are solely responsible for the content you post. The operator does not verify or endorse user content.
6. Meetings arranged through the platform
You in Town facilitates connections between travellers and local guides, but is not a party to any arrangement or meeting that results from those connections. The operator accepts no liability for the conduct of users during in-person meetings or for any harm, loss, or dispute arising from such meetings.
Exercise the same care you would with any interaction with a stranger. If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and disengage.
7. Tip payments
Guides may optionally display a PayPal.me link on their profile. Any payment made through such a link is a voluntary transaction between a traveller and a guide, conducted entirely on PayPal's platform. The operator is not a party to, does not facilitate, process, or take any cut of these transactions, and accepts no liability in connection with them.
8. Enforcement and termination
The operator reserves the right to suspend or permanently delete any account that violates these Terms, at my sole discretion and without prior notice.
You may delete your own account at any time via the Settings page. Upon deletion, your profile, trips, messages, and reviews are permanently removed.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. I do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or harm arising from user interactions.
This limitation does not affect any rights you may have under mandatory applicable law (including Austrian consumer protection law).
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Austria. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Austria, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
